Infused with affirmations inspired by the beauty of black hair, this book is a tribute to every child who may have questioned their beauty. Affirmations are like secret words that make you feel good inside. They are essential because they help you remember how amazing you are. An affirmation is written at the bottom of each page, with space for the child to rewrite it. This makes it easier for the child to believe it and also gives them a chance to enhance their writing skills; this book is meant to be an opportunity for parents and their children to work together to dispel the negative influences our society places on children of color.

These affirmations will resonate with children, fostering confidence, self-love, and a profound understanding that beauty comes in countless shapes and forms. There is space on each page for your child to copy the affirmation. Every African American should know that their hair is as unique and beautiful as they are. Each stroke of color celebrates diversity, strength, and the rich heritage that makes them extraordinary. This book was inspired by the heartfelt words of my four-year-old niece, who bravely shared her nonpositive feelings about her hair. I hope that as children color these pages, they see the beauty in every curl, coil, and kink and recognize the magnificence within themselves. As young artists bring these pages to life, let them carry the vibrant lessons learned here into their hearts, creating a world where every child embraces the beauty of their individuality with pride and joy.
On the book's final page, the child is asked to write a personal affirmation; this challenges them to identify positive things about themselves. This helps to develop critical thinking skills and enhance creative writing skills. They are asked to repeat their affirmations daily. Parents work with your child -- read the affirmations together. Make it a family event. This book will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Let's put down the IPAD and cell phone and go "Old School."
